Bio:
Julien Retailleau has over eight years’ experience in document analysis and is currently Head of Document Department at the Forensic Science Laboratory of the French National Gendarmerie.
Julien is in charge of forensic document analysis, with an emphasis on document fraud. He oversees experts conducting high-level analysis to determine how false documents are made, and the type of material and security elements (often imitations), as well as the printing techniques (printer identification) used, which is all useful for false documents forensic profiling.
The department manages the testing of new documents issued by the French Government such as the new IDcard in use since August 2021, offers support to the French Information System Security Agency (ANSSI), and provides 13-week education programmes on document fraud to militaries from the Gendarmerie Nationale on a yearly basis.

Presentation 2-Line Description:
Identity documents and currency are widely accepted to belong to two parallel worlds within the realm of security. When it comes to counterfeiting, we will examine the points where the borders between the two areas become blurred and where they differ completely. Analysis will be carried out in terms of counterfeiters’ profiles, counterfeit users and anti-counterfeiting actions.
